ABOUT JILLIAN
I have recived a mail from her and I wanted to share it with you ...
Hello Everyone!
I'm back home!I've been back home for a week and I still don't know how to feel about it. When I landed, I was running out of the plane I was so happy to be back. And of course I love seeing my home and family again! But it also feels so wierd to me that I'm not in Cluj! Everytime I wake up I feel surprised that I'm really here. It stuns me that everything has changed so completely!I'm sorry that I didn't write sooner to let you know that I'm OK, but it's been a pretty confusing week for me. I also tried writing a few days ago, but the email didn't get through. I have awful internet access up here, so that means I won't be able to write much in the next weeks either. There are actually very few things that I have easy access to anymore, which is hard to get used to again. Choiceland (my village) is about 20 kilometers away, and I can't really get better internet access there either. In a couple weeks I should be driving into the city - hopefully I'll find a computer there where I can write more (and finish the last AIESEC surveys).Future plans? I'm kind of confused there too. I haven't started looking for a job yet. I've forgotten so much since I graduated that I need some time to relearn the basics before I start embarrasing myself in interviews. But there is no real rush either. My parents are thrilled to have me back and I haven't even been able to visit any of my old friends yet!Everything is just so different! A few weeks ago I was touring around Europe, and now I spend my days picking berries and swatting mosquitoes! And I can't stop myself from answering 'da' and 'nu' to my parents. The words 'yes' and 'no' just sound funny to me now! And already on the bus home (I took an 8 hour bus between Calgary and Saskatoon) I had another Canadian quite confused about where I came from. He just couldn't place my accent! That was such a nice thing about coming back into Canada! I started speaking to everybody! Well, so far I've only been around people at the airport and the bus station (more deer than people around my parents' house), but a lot of talking happened at those two places! I think us Canadians just love speaking with strangers all the time. I couldn't even finish drying my hands in the washroom before a woman started up a conversation with me! How I missed that! And I can understand what everyone is saying too!But before I left Europe I was fortunate enough to visit Saara in Helsinki! It was amazing! Saara is still the same wonderful Saara we met in Cluj, and it was awesome to see her in her home country! And it was also awesome to polish off a bottle of tuika with her in Finland! We had a full-out Romanian party in Helsinki, with mamaliga and Romanian music.Finland really is amazing, with a temperature always above 30 degrees! At least that's how I'll remember it. Warm sun and beaches! The land of ancient naked traditions meets science fiction! Yes, Finns really do live and breathe SAUNA. Right under Saara's window I watched naked men wandering in and out of the public sauna. (OK, they do wear towels.) I also learned that Finnish TVs can answer any question faster than Google. I so wish Finland wasn't so far away! I wish Romania was a lot closer too!Anyway, I wanted everyone to know that I can't stop thinking about all of you! I hope you all are healthy and enjoying your lives to the fullest! I miss you so much!
Pupici! Jillian
